MLK Meet Weekend

Wow! This weekend was BUSY! We basically just lived at the Nat. lol! This was a BB & up age group meet. Kit Kat was one of 3, 8 year olds to qualify for it. You had to have 3 BB times to swim anything which she had (6 actually) so she got to swim some new events for her. She was really excited! I was nervous. lol! Friday evening started out with the 500 Free. Her first time. I was just hoping for her to get through it with out stopping or choking on water. haha! She AMAZED Shawn and I! She was strong the entire time, did her kicks off each turn and no breaths off the walls! She came in with a time of 6:57.70!! Another BB cut under her belt! She also placed 16th! Saturday started off a bit disappointing. Her first event was 100 free. She was really trying for an A cut. She just missed it again. Bummer. Hopefully she gets to swim it at 8 & Under champs to try again. She still came in with an impressive time though. 1:13.26. She added an even sec. Fingers crossed for next time. She then had to turn around and swim the 100 fly and 200 IM back to back. She rocked the 100 fly and getting another BB cut with a time of 1:30.73. The 200 IM was a great event (and new one) for her. Just coming off the 100 fly I had no idea how she would do. She came in with a time of 3:02.01 for another BB cut! She was so happy! She even got to do the 400 Free Relay. Her relay placed 3rd! After all that we went home to rest for the evening. She was pretty pumped of how she did that day. :) Sunday came fast. lol! Her swims from the day before were the talk of the stands. Several parents from other teams stopped me to say that she is doing awesome and can not believe she is only 8 year old! lol! She is not intimidated AT ALL by older girls. I think because she has always swam and practiced with kids older that it does not even phase her. She is in her own little world. :) Sunday started out pretty good with her 200 Free. Last July she got to swim it at the B & under meet. She stopped 3 times in the water due to choking on water and still came out with a b time then. I was just hoping that she does not do that again! lol! She did great. I think she was a tad tired from the day before, but still got a BB time with 2:42.03. It will be fun to see her swim it again when she is not so tired. Next up was the 50 fly. Kit Kat is not a flyer. lol! She is strong and better then average, but not a flyer. She basically has stayed the same all season in this event. 41.94 - BB time, but not great. haha! Her 100 back was the last event. She was pretty strong at 1:30.31 BB cut again. :) Then, she got to do the free leg on the 400 Medley Relay. They came in 2nd. :) Over all the meet was AWESOME! She got some new cuts, got to swim some new events and got to do relays! She is totally closer in all events to A cuts. I bet those will be here soon. She also got to swim with the "big girls", which was so fun for her. She hung in there the entire meet and even scored 6 indiv. points for her team. She came home with 2 ribbons as well. Now its time to get back for training so she will be ready for champs next month. I am so proud of Kit Kat!

New Year, New Blog

Welcome 2015! The Andersons are ready for you! This year I am going to blog and share pictures of my great little family! Finally! lol! So many people have asked, so I am finally ready to do it. With 2014 finishing up, we were super busy. Ryan qualified for AAU Cross Country Nationals in Lawrence, Kansas. He and Shawn made the trip the first of December. They had a wonderful time! Ryan ran great and got to experience the "Big Stage". He came backed super pumped and hoping to go again in 2015. I am so proud of him. He is a dedicated little runner at the age of 10. Running 3 days a week. Now that the official Cross Country season is over he will be doing several road races. I can't wait to see how he does. Kit Kat is training HARD right now. There are just 2 more short course meets of the season. She is hoping to get an A time (USA 10 & Under cut) before the season is over. She just might do it. She is determined! I think her best bet is in the 100 free. She is just about 1/2 a sec. off. She qualified for her first BIG usa swimming BB & UP meet this weekend. She is just one of a handful of 8 year olds that made it. You had to have at least 3 BB times (she has 6.) So since this is a 10 & Under division she will be the youngest and also get to swim some events that are new to her. The 500 free is Friday. She is ready! I look at that and she Amazes me that she is so driven at such a young age. Both Ryan and Kit Kat are. I guess since Shawn and I are competitive people they just naturally get it. lol! Wish us luck this weekend. The meet is 3 days long. That is a long time for Ryan to come and support his sister! lol! I did find him a friend to hang with on Friday and then he will be going to Cub Scouts & church Sunday with my brother-in-law so he gets a break from the Nat. I think he can handle one day there. :) That is one thing that we do stress in both Ryan and Kit Kat is to be there and support each other in their sports. Ryan has spent many of hours hanging at various pools and Kit Kat hanging early in the morning on her days off at races cheering each other on. :) Happy New Year to you all! Bring on 2015!
